About

Md Jihan Ahamad Joy is an Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) graduate and undergraduate researcher at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Bangladesh. His research interests include Human Activity Recognition (HAR), Federated Learning, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and Visual-Inertial systems. His research focuses on developing privacy-preserving and intelligent activity recognition systems using wearable and smartphone sensor data. He has also worked on IoT-based environmental monitoring and embedded systems. He is interested in interdisciplinary research combining artificial intelligence, sensor technologies, and intelligent systems for real-world applications.

Research Interests

Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Federated Learning, Human Activity Recognition (HAR), Computer Vision, Robotics, Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO), SLAM, Sensor Fusion, IoT, and Edge AI.

Research Experience

I have research experience in Human Activity Recognition (HAR) using Federated Learning and smartphone/wearable sensor data. I developed an extended dataset, ExVioHAR, by expanding the existing activity dataset with additional human activity classes and participant data. I implemented LSTM-based models for sequential sensor-data classification and explored Federated Learning using Flower (FLWR), including FedAvg and other aggregation approaches. I also have experience working with Visual Odometry (VO), Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO), trajectory data, sensor fusion, and ROS-based robotics systems. My research interests focus on privacy-preserving machine learning, intelligent sensing, robotics, and real-time AI applications.
